All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

What is an Umbrella Policy and Why Should I Have One?

An umbrella is a liability policy providing up to $5 million in coverage.  This is a separate policy designed to supplement your auto, home, renters, and business policies. It protects your assets from unforeseen tragic events like a car accident, boating accident, or dog bite.  If you experience a tragic event and the liability limits on your primary policy are exhausted to pay for a legal defense and/or settlement costs, the umbrella policy would respond with additional coverage.

The purpose of an umbrella policy is to protect your assets such as your car, house, retirement accounts and future income. You can purchase coverage that fits your family's needs.
