All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Michigan PIP – What is it and what does it cover?

Michigan PIP – What is it and what does it cover?

PIP stands for Personal Injury Protection. It is the portion of your Auto Insurance policy that pays for allowable medical expenses if you are injured in an Auto accident. Prior to the State of Michigan laws changing in 2020, everyone who had Auto insurance in the State of Michigan had unlimited PIP medical coverage. No other options were available. Now there are lower limits available based on your health insurance coverage.

We recommend unlimited PIP because there is a lot covered by the Auto Insurance policy (PIP) that is not covered by most health insurance policies, such as:

1. Wage loss

2. Replacement services (things around the house you are no longer able to do)

3. Attendant care (assistance with daily living)

4. Housing and vehicle modifications

5. Survivor benefits

At Ieuter Insurance Group, we are here to help you navigate this complex change. We can help you choose what PIP limit makes the most sense for you and your situation. If you have questions on which coverage is right for you, please contact our office at 989-835-6701 to speak with our staff.
